Church family, I am excited to tell you about a new opportunity for us to fellowship and study together this summer! Beginning Wednesday evening June 28th we are launching the Christ Presbyterian Church Summer Reading Club! The CPC Summer Reading Club is for men, women and youth. Beginning June 28th we will gather on Wednesday evenings in the home of Jim and Robin Williamson at 6:00pm for a meal and discussion of J. Gresham Machen’s “Christianity and Liberalism.” This year is the 100th anniversary of the publishing of Machen’s most popular and arguably most important work. Many pastors and theologians have remarked that “Christianity and Liberalism” has never been more relevant than it is currently in 2023. In this short book Machen both demonstrates the deadliness of “liberal theology” and defends historic orthodox Christianity. Whether you are a Machen scholar or this is your first introduction to his work I am confident you will greatly benefit from reading and discussing this book.
